What Do we Know about Perrie Lynn?

??????????? A couple of my reader-writer friends have remarked about Perrie Lynn being so vibrant and real, even though she’s not “on stage” in the book. One friend said she found herself tense waiting for Perrie Lynn’s performance scores—just like the minutes of waiting during televised competitions! I like that—as far as I’m concerned, Perrie Lynn is out there living her life. So, even seeing her from afar, what do we know about her?

Perrie Lynn is:

• Small but mighty: Like so many petite and lithe figure skaters, Perrie Lynn can’t do those soaring triple jumps without a strong, powerful body. Like ballet dancers, they can’t be artists without being athletes, but they can’t be stars without being both!
• Disciplined and gutsy: She reached the highest level of skating by showing up every day to train for these national and world competitions. No matter how graceful and artistic she is, she puts her game face on when she competes—and makes it all look blissfully easy.
• A sparkler: Figure skaters seem to sparkle, don’t they? Perrie Lynn adds a dash of flourish when she puts a white flower in her hair, and her skating dresses are rich reds and blues. Miles is the first to note she has his dark hair and eyes, but her widow’s peak and her bright, wide smile are all Lark.
• A team player: Figure skaters have a team of coaches, choreographers, and costume designers—and that’s just a start. Dance teachers and physical therapists may be part of the mix, and Perrie Lynn must be poised enough to handle the media like a pro.
• Grateful: Perrie Lynn knows how much her parents have invested in her training. As you’ll see, when she wants to honor her mother, she knows just the right piece of music to choose. Can you guess what it is?
